The pro wrestling business does not have the same popularity it once did when Eric Bischoff was in charge of WCW, and he sees the trends as well. He also knows that the responsibility lies on those in charge to turn things around, and not the talent.

During a recent 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff spoke about what it will take to turn things around for the pro wrestling business. He firmly believes that it will take more than just talent to turn things around. It will take many other variable to fall into place in order to spark a resurgence of interest.

“I firmly believe what I’m about to say. I don’t think there’s any talent on the face of the earth that can change the course of the business by themselves.”

“It’s got to be the right talent, at the right time, in the right place. [You have to be] surrounded by the right people at the right time. That’s going to shift the business. IF the business is going to shift? It’s going to shift as a result of a multitude of different things, a variety of different things.”

Eric Bischoff is not officially associated with any pro wrestling company right now. He has appeared for AEW, but those were only special cameos with no long term intention. We’ll have to see if the perfect storm can form once again to bring a surge of interest back to pro wrestling. It will take more than those performing in the ring, no matter how great their abilities are.
