AEW Dynamite will be on TNT for their December 23rd episode, but it might be December 24th by the time the show goes off the air. The NBA game will cause a very late start time, possibly 10:00 PM or later.

Next week will be the first time ever that WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite will be on after each other. Dynamite might have a bit of a gap after 10:00 PM depending on how long the NBA game lasts.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW will likely get a lead-in next week of well over 2 million viewers thanks to that NBA game. It is imperative that they present a very strong opener to capture that fan interest and keep as many of those viewers as possible.

This week’s AEW Dynamite opened with 1,010,00 fans, and 512,000 of them were in the 18-49 demographic. They did not keep that viewership throughout the show as they finished the night with an overnight viewership average of 806,000 viewers.

NXT gained 115,000 total viewers with their overrun after Dynamite went off the air this week. WWE NXT won’t have that competition from AEW next week. It will be interesting to see how both shows do in this unique situation.
