EC3’s career in WWE has been largely criticized by fans as the company has underutilized him on the main roster. He eventually parted ways with WWE earlier in the year and went on to work for other wrestling promotions.

EC3 was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet. where various topics were discussed during the interview. He talked about how he was going to request his WWE release but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented him from doing so.

“The only thing that kept me there? It was the fact that I’m like ‘oh man there is a pandemic. My parents have a small business, my family might need it. I can’t pass up that money, they might need it.’”

EC3 then revealed how he had pitched an idea of a ‘Fight Club’ character to Vince McMahon right after making his return from a concussion. He would then get fired shortly after making the pitch.

“Around WrestleMania time I was coming back from a pretty serious concussion that cost me about five or six months. That really changed my life and really made me think about this character.”

“I pitched this idea. I’m a decent writer, I was typing it up, this real great thing, and I included a promo with it. I send it in on a Wednesday, and two hours later I got fired!”

The former WWE Superstar then said that he was more than ready to leave the company when he was told he was going to be released.

“The day I sent in some magnificent pitch I’m fired! The first thing I thought was ‘oh, I’m actually okay with this, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. I’ll be okay.’ Then I just posted the [same] promo to the world [on YouTube]. The only thing I didn’t want was people to think I sat around and did nothing.”

Following his WWE exit, EC3 worked in Impact Wrestling for a while and then started wrestling for ROH.

We will have to see what is next in store for him.
