Welcome to Ringside News’ live coverage of AEW Dynamite for December 2nd, 2020. Tonight is the special “Winter is Coming” edition of Dynamite. The card is as follows:

  • AEW World Title: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Kenny Omega
  • Darby Allin and Cody Rhodes vs. Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks
  • The Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale
  • Chris Jericho vs. Frankie Kazarian
  • Britt Baker vs. Leyla Hirsch

Note: The scheduled participants for the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale are Private Party, Scorpio Sky, Matt Sydal, Orange Cassidy, Sammy Guevara, Hangman Page, MJF, Wardlow, Matt Hardy, Kip Sabian, Miro, Shawn Spears, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds.

Dynamite

Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale
Scorpio Sky and Shawn Spears just stare each other down as everyone brawls. Matt Hardy gets the first elimination, sending Isaiah Kassidy packing. Hangman and Dark Order work together to eliminate Serpentico and Luther. Spears eliminates Sydal, getting revenge after losing to him in a singles match a few weeks back. Sky soon eliminates Spears and Tully Blanchard is disappointed. Spears sneaks in a cheap shot on Sky, allowing Wardlow to eliminate him. Hardy causes Silver to inadvertently eliminate Reynolds. Silver gets eliminated soon after and the crowd actively boos. At ringside, the rest of Dark Order prevent Hangman from getting eliminated. He runs back in and gets eliminated by Hardy. Orange Cassidy eliminates Kip Sabian. This causes Miro to become enraged and he posts Cassidy. Miro then eliminates Lee Johnson, Marq Quen, Matt Hardy, and Joey Janela. Wardlow and Miro trade strikes. The Inner Circle work together to eliminate Miro.

The final five are MJF, Sammy Guevara, Wardlow, Orange Cassidy, and Jungle Boy. Guevara and Jungle Boy battle on the apron. MJF pushes both of them to the floor and eliminates them. MJF and Wardlow realize Cassidy was never eliminated. Cassidy eliminates Wardlow and we have our winners.

Winners: MJF and Orange Cassidy (12:21)

Chris Jericho vs. Frankie Kazarian
They begin with some chain wrestling and Kazarian tries a quick rollup to no avail. Jericho sneaks in an eye poke and kind of connects with a dropkick. Kazarian trips him up and hits a leg drop. Jake Hager gets involved, allowing Jericho to hit a codebreaker. Jericho takes over as we head to commercial. Back from break, Kazarian avoids a bulldog and comes back with a series of strikes. He blocks a lionsault with knees and hits a springboard leg drop. They battle up top and Kazarian busts out the Flux Capacitor for a nearfall. Ortiz threatens interference to stop Kazarian’s momentum. Kazarian applies the Walls of Jericho. MJF comes out with a towel but Sammy Guevara stops him from throwing it in. Jericho sees Guevara with the towel and looks confused. Jericho connects with the Judas Effect for the win.

Winner: Chris Jericho (11:01; Judas Effect)

MJF and Guevara almost come to blows after the match. Jericho says that he’s sick and tired of the drama. Next week, they’re going to decide if the Inner Circle can work together or if they need to break up.

Alex Marvez is with the Young Bucks. Next week, they will wrestle the Hybrid 2. The Acclaimed interrupt and make fun of the Young Bucks’ book. The Hybrid 2 attack the Young Bucks from behind. SCU eventually make the save.

Britt Baker vs. Leyla Hirsch
Hirsch immediately goes for an armbar and Baker scrambles to the ropes. Baker hits a DDT and takes over as we head to break. Back from commercial, Hirsch fights back with a german suplex. She takes out Reba with a dive and Baker catches her with a sling blade onto the floor. In the ring, Hirsch connects with a knee strike and tries for a cross armbreaker. Baker counters into the Lockjaw but Hirsch goes back into the cross armbreaker. Baker battles out of the hold but eats another knee strike. A distraction by Reba allows Baker to hit a fisherman neckbreaker. Baker applies the Lockjaw for the victory.

Winner: Britt Baker (8:50; Lockjaw)

Thunder Rosa attacks Baker after the match. Referees storm the ring to separate them. Hirsch hits a backdrop driver on Reba for good measure.

Darby Allin and Cody Rhodes vs. Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks
Both teams brawl from the opening bell as we quickly head to commercial. Back from break, Cody hits a delayed gourdbuster on Starks. Hobbs absolutely barrels over Allin on the floor and hurls him into the barricade. Team Taz work over Allin until he avoids some offense and makes the tag. Cody cleans house and catches Starks with a springboard ace crusher. Cody takes out Hobbs with a dive. Allin hits the Coffin Drop on Starks for the win.

Winners: Darby Allin and Cody Rhodes (12:10; Coffin Drop on Starks)

Team Taz attacks Allin and Cody after the match. Arn Anderson tries to make the save but that ends poorly. Dustin Rhodes comes out to help but Brian Cage neutralizes him. The lights go out and STING APPEARS. Team Taz flees as Sting enters the ring and stares down Arn, Dustin, Cody, and Darby. Sting leaves as everyone wonders what’s next.

Sting has signed a multi-year contract with AEW.

Next week: MJF vs. Orange Cassidy; Young Bucks vs. The Hybrid 2; Dustin Rhodes vs. Dark Order’s 10; Inner Circle Ultimatum; FTR vs. Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr.; Abadon in action.

Hikaru Shida is with Alex Marvez. She calls Abadon a girl doing zombie cosplay. Shida hears some rattling in the background and decides to end the interview early.

AEW World Title: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Kenny Omega
Don Callis joins commentary for this match. They begin with a feeling-out process and Moxley grabs a side headlock. Omega tries a few chops but Moxley just walks through them. Omega snaps off a hurricanrana but runs into a spinning slam. Moxley clotheslines him on the apron. They battle at ringside and Moxley is sent into the barricade. He responds with a suplex onto the floor. Moxley is in control as they brawl around ringside. We head to a commercial. Back from break, Omega hits a kneebreaker into the barricade. In the ring, Omega begins to target the left knee. Moxley creates some space with a lariat and hits a german suplex. He follows with a pumphandle exploder. Moxley hits a hangman’s suplex as we head to another break. As we return, Omega lands a dive to the floor. Back in, Moxley hits a quick Paradigm Shift but he doesn’t cover. Moxley throws a few chairs into the ring and sets them up across from each other. They sit on the chairs and punch each other.

Omega connects with a V Trigger and hits a snap dragon suplex. Moxley answers with a german suplex of his own and connects with a huge lariat. Moxley hits another Paradigm Shift for a nearfall. Omega blocks a dive with a V Trigger. Omega connects with a missile dropkick and yet another V Trigger. He adds a tiger driver for a two count. Moxley escapes the One-Winged Angel and they exchange counters. Omega channels Okada with a ripchord V Trigger. He hits Croyt’s Wrath for a nearfall. Moxley avoids a phoenix splash and hits a Paradigm Shift into a set of heaters at ringside. Paul Turner calls for a doctor and referees come down to check on Omega. Moxley throws him back into the ring and lays in a series of punches. Don Callis is pleading with the referee but Moxley shoves him. Omega hits Moxley with a microphone behind the referee’s back. Moxley is bleeding. Omega connects with a V Trigger. Three more V Triggers. Omega hits the One-Winged Angel to win the title.

Winner: Kenny Omega (28:27; One-Winged Angel) ***NEW CHAMPION***

Kenny Omega and Don Callis celebrate together and quickly leave the building. Callis says everyone will find out what happened on Impact on Tuesday.
