AEW was able to get action figures in impressive time, but a video game takes a lot longer to get together, especially during a pandemic. They are still working on things and it is in the pipeline. Information is scarce, but Kenny Omega promises it will have a chance to stand alone as one of the best pro wrestling games ever.

While speaking to Game Spot, Kenny Omega said that the AEW video game is still in development. He is also working closely with that development team to make sure that the product they come up with meets their standards.

“The status of the video game is that it is currently in development. I can’t say too much more other than I am working very closely creatively with a team. And every few weeks, they have very exciting new things to show us.”

Omega said that AEW isn’t going to put anything out soon, because this kind of thing takes time. When AEW is able to release their video game Omega has a lot of confidence in the product they will bring to the market.

“So it’s a little ways away. We’re not going to be competing head to head against WWE Battlegrounds anytime soon. But when the game is ready, and when it will release, I think it has a very good chance of standing alone as probably the best wrestling product as a video game that you could probably find on the market. That’s the hope anyway.”

AEW has a lot of fans who also play video games. Several members of the AEW roster are also Twitch streamers and would likely love to play as themselves on their own live stream. That will happen, but it’s not going to be a rushed process. If WWE 2K20 taught us anything it’s that you can’t rush a video game, especially in the pro wrestling genre.
