Welcome to Ringside News’ live results coverage of WWE RAW for August 17th.

Tonight’s RAW is the last before WWE SummerSlam on Sunday, but WWE doesn’t have much announced. In fact, it seems all the news today is going into the upcoming ThunderDome shows.

However we do know Hall of Famer, Shawn Michaels will be on the show tonight. Michaels will address Randy’s Orton’s recent behaviour and attack on Ric Flair, which we all know will lead to Shawn being punted and that’s fine. Drew McIntyre will also have something to say ahead of his showdown with Orton on Sunday.

RAW Underground will be back tonight, as Erik from The Viking Raiders will be in action, as will Arturo Ruas and Riddick Moss. So far the Underground has been fine but a little lacking in direction or overall idea, like why are the fights happening? Is there anything to fight for other than pride? Hopefully we eventually get answers to these questions.

And that’s the thin preview for tonight’s RAW. The show kicks-off at 8 PM EST as usual, and we’ll have the results right here. Enjoy the show!

WWE RAW

Tonight’s RAW opens with the usual Then. Now. Forever video package but it keeps rewinding and turning upside down. Retribution at work.

The WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, comes to the ring and we see a lengthy replay of Randy Orton’s attack on Ric Flair last week. Drew says that what Randy did last week, brutalize Ric Flair, was unforgivable. Not just a legend, 16x Champion, an icon, but a 71-year old man. Drew says Randy grew up with Flair, they were friends and Ric protected him.

Last week Ric said he loved Randy so much he wanted him to break his record, but Randy kicked him in the head. He’s pure evil. McIntyre says that, at SummerSlam, he’s not facing an old man, he’s facing a pissed-off, 6 foot 7, fire-breathing dragon. And he’s going to make him pay.

We get more technical difficulties, with quick cuts to the announce desk, match graphics, and more. The camera cuts backstage and we see Retribution in the TV truck, breaking everything. They’re harassing crew members and threatening them when the camera cuts to black and we go to commercial.

*Commercial Break*

We’re backstage with Ali, Ricochet, Drew McIntyre, Titus O’Neil, Viking Raiders, and more. They’re all arguing but Drew stands up and says SummerSlam might not happen if Retribution don’t be stopped. He says they’ve come into their back yard and it’s time they band together to stomp them out.

Seth Rollins approaches Drew and laughs. He says he gets what he’s doing but RAW already has a leader and a Messiah. Drew says Seth has been here for five years and nobody respects him, so they aren’t going to. Seth says being a Champion doesn’t make you a leader or a teacher, and he taught Drew how to be Champion. Like last week when he taught Dominik what it means to be a WWE Superstar.

Ricochet says he’s going to get a receipt for that, because Rey Mysterio will be here tonight. Seth says that’s impossible because he mangled him. Drew asks if he’s scared but Seth says of course not, he’s a leader of men and if Drew isn’t careful he won’t be able to make it to SummerSlam. Drew says if Seth wants a kick in the mouth he could just ask for it, then they start shoving each other until the others get between.

We’re back by the ring and MVP makes his entrance alongside Lashley and Benjamin. The camera angles are all high-angle, fixed cameras because the cameramen are hiding or something. MVP says The Hurt Business is out here to make a statement: they’re open for business, so Retribution can come find them. MVP says they’re not tough, him, Benjamin, and Lashley are tough.

He asks who benefits from retribution? He says you can follow the trail to catering where you’ll find Apollo Crews, Ricochet, Alexander, and Ali. MVP says Crews is behind Retribution, because they showed up the night he faced him for the United States Championship.

Crews comes out and says he knows MVP makes lots of excuses, but this is a new low. MVP says what Apollo is doing with his goons is low. MVP says that, until Crews won the US Championship, Apollo was more hot-and-cold than an old car. And that made him mad. He sees fear in Apollo’s eyes, fear of loving the US Championship because he winds up back in catering. Apollo says he’s right, he’s terrified of losing that belt. He says if he can beat Shelton Benjamin tonight him and Lashley will be banned from ringside at SummerSlam.

MVP says he is a petulant child and he’ll prove that at SummerSlam. MVP then directs Benjamin and Lashley to go get Crews but he slides in the ring when they slide out.

Winner: Angel Garza

Angelo and Demi appear on the screen and congratulate him on the win. Angel asks what’s happening and Demi says she can’t wait to watch their tag match on SummerSlam. *Commercial Break*

Dawkins is still backstage with Demi and Garza shows up. Vega and Andrade show up as well, then Charly Caruso appears and asks what is going on. Dawkins tells them to roll the clip and we see Zelina Vega poisoning Montez Ford’s drink. Vega says that footage has been tampered with and doesn’t show anything. She blames Charly Caruso, but Dawkins then steps up and says it’s taking all his effort not to give them what they deserve, because he’s waiting for his brother. Ford then comes flying into the frame and they beat Andrade and Garza away.

Mickie James Vs. Natalya W/Lana

Lana grabs Mickie’s foot at the outset and Natalya takes advantage and kicks her down. Mickie fires back with a kick but Nattie drops her with a knee.

Mickie kicks her and looks for the Mick-DT but Natalya shoves her off and they hit a double clothesline. Seth Rollins appears at ringside and starts berating Samoa Joe for their recent transgressions. Natalya knocks Mickie out of the ring but she gets counted out!

Winner Via Count-Out: Natalya

Lana films Mickie James on the floor, so Mickie gets up and hits the Mick Kick. Meanwhile Seth is still berting Samoa Joe, saying if Rey or Dominik show up tonight they won’t make it to SummerSlam.

*Commercial Break*

Sasha Banks and Bayley come out for a tag match. Banks complains about their schedule and that they both have to wrestle Asuka at SummerSlam. Bayley says they can’t wait because it’s a night off for them. Bayley says Asuka thinks she’s smart but she’s the Empress of Stupidity. Banks agrees and says Asuka can’t beat them in one night, then they both argue about who will beat Asuka first. Bayley says she loves Sasha, so she’ll beat her first and that way Banks can easily tap her out. Banks says nobody can stop them and Bayley says they’ll celebrate all the way to Payback, where they defend the Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Shayna Baszler interrupts and makes her way to the ring. She says that it doesn’t matter what happens at SummerSlam, because she has the winner. Asuka comes out speaking in Japanese. She says Baszler will have to team with her before they fight each other.

She climbs over the barricade and out comes Pat Buck with some officials, who try to restore order as Baszler and Jax brawl through the crowd. Apollo says it’s nothing personal, he just thinks he needs a rest after taking the Full Lashley earlier tonight. They make up and walk off. Randy Orton walks into the shot but we head to the break.

*Commercial Break*

Drew McIntyre is backstage, in thought, when Shawn Michaels approaches him and says he understands how upset he is. But all his anger and frustration will make it easier for Randy to beat him. Shawn says Drew has worked way too hard and travelled too rough a road to lost it all now. Drew says Shawn is a huge part of why he made it; he moved to NXT when he came back to WWE and that was to work with Michaels. But he can’t feel that he’s let him down. Shawn says he hasn’t, that he’s a 6 foot 5, 260 Scottish stud and he can face any diversity that comes his way.

Shawn says he remembers Drew driving five hours everyday to watch film with him, even though he had a torn bicep. That’s the McIntyre he knows. The guy that beat Brock Lesnar and set the WWE Championship free. He’s earned his spot and he needs to show everyone who he is at SummerSlam. But he wants him to promise he won’t interfere when he goes out to confront Orton tonight.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio make their way to the ring. Rey says there is only word to describe how he’s felt since Extreme Rules: pain. Initially because of what Seth did to his eye, but then even more because of what Seth did to Dominik. He had to watch as his son was crucified on the ropes, and it made him feel a rage he’s never felt before. He should have been there to take that beating for his son, and he might not be cleared to compete but he will protect his son.

At SummerSlam he’s going to be in Dom’s corner and watch him beat Seth’s ass. Dominik thanks his father and says he knew what he was getting himself into, and he knows what he has to do to defend his family’s honour. Rey says Dom has no idea how proud he is, or how much he loves him. He admires his determination and will to defend the family, and he knows he will be ready. And if Seth gets near them tonight, he won’t make it to SummerSlam.

Rollins and Murphy appear on the screen. He says he never took Rey for an idiot, but he brought Dom here to RAW, putting him in harm’s way tonight and for what? For himself. He’s a selfish, sorry excuse for a father. Seth says he doesn’t understand why Rey continues putting himself and his son in his way. Seth says he knows now it doesn’t have to be Rey, it will be the Mysterio name that makes the ultimate sacrifice. Rey invites Seth down to the ring but Rollins laughs, saying he can’t see and Dom can’t walk straight. Rollins says he asked for it.

*Commercial Break*

Michaels says he watched that last week in tears, with Ric recounting the worst days of his life on his deathbed. And you have to understand that Ric loved performing in the wrestling ring more than most. If it wasn’t for Ric Flair there would be no Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Batista, Edge, Christian, Drew McIntyre, or Randy Orton.

Unlike the rest of them though, Randy has never had the respect for Flair that they do. Randy had Flair, the greatest ever, as his manager and mentor since he broke into the business and he didn’t appreciate it. Shawn says he doesn’t know how, but he can assure Orton he will receive justice at the hands of a Sweet Chin Music or a Claymore Kick. Michaels turns to leave but Orton appears from behind him and hits an RKO, followed by a punt! Orton high-tails it as Drew McIntyre runs down the ramp. Orton stands behind the plexi-glass smiling as Drew turns to check on Shawn.
