Eric Bischoff was brought into WWE and he had a short stint as executive director of WWE SmackDown. He was excited about that position, and he wanted to work with a few Superstars especially.

During 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff opened up about wanting to work with Dolph Ziggler. He said he wanted to “refresh him” before putting over The Show Off’s abilities.

Bischoff also stated that Ziggler reminded him of Kurt Angle because they always brought it to the ring and were also quite versatile.

“I saw a character or aspect of a character in Dolph that could be really entertaining and refresh him. I thought the world of him and still do as a performer. I always looked at Dolph Ziggler as a guy who reminded me in some respects of Kurt Angle, because on Monday nights [Kurt] could be the most frightening man-killer you needed him to be, and face anybody, and beat them on any given night, and the next night, be a stand up comedian.”

“That’s a magical combination as a talent – to not only have skill but depth and range as a character, and I saw that and still believe to this day that there’s a character there that can do so much more.”

Eric Bischoff never had much of an opportunity to refresh Dolph Ziggler’s character, but The Show Off’s run with Mandy Rose through WrestleMania did make plenty of headlines. Now Ziggler is on RAW and trying his best to make sure that people don’t forget everything he is capable of.
