WWE had to call a few audibles due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Money In The Bank was very unique this year, but fans almost saw a match at the WWE headquarters much sooner.

During PW Insider Elite audio, Mike Johnson revealed that an idea was pitched within WWE to hold a WrestleMania match at headquarters. That idea didn’t happen, but it could serve as the source of inspiration for how Money In The Bank turned out.

“Believe it or not, there was actually talk of doing a match at Titan Towers for WrestleMania 36. I don’t know which match it might have been. When they were trying to figure out how they would handle the pre-tape of WrestleMania there was a pitch to have a match take place there and I believe that’s where the seed of this idea actually came from.”

Money In The Bank is the first time that WWE ever shot an actual match at their famous headquarters. Now fans are much more familiar with the surroundings that WWE employees see every day.
