AEW just opened their doors last year, but they already have a Hulk Hogan according to The Young Bucks. While speaking to Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks explained why they consider Chris Jericho as their Hulk Hogan.

Hogan signed with WCW in 1994 and a few years later, the Monday Night Wars started. This was a time of great excitement in the pro wrestling business as Hulk led the charge against Vince McMahon’s company.

Nick Jackson explained that just like Hulk Hogan, Jericho has seen so much after 30 years in the pro wrestling business. He knows characters and how to get them over.

“I always call [Jericho] our Hulk Hogan. He’s done it all, and there is something about that. Even though he has been in the business for 30 years or so, he still wants to give back and get characters over. You never see that.”

Matt Jackson continued by saying that Jericho strays from the usual attitude of putting yourself first.

“Most wrestlers want to be over, and they don’t care about anybody else. The prevailing attitude in this business is often, ‘I want you to do good, just not as good as me.’ Jericho wants everyone to be elevated. We made the right call. Look at how he made Darby Allin. Those matches with Jungle Boy and Scorpio Sky were really important, too. And Jericho watches all our matches, too. People don’t realize he’s the guy that pulls us aside and says, ‘This was great, but you could do this better.’ We don’t have enough of those guys in the business.”

Jericho sat next to Tony Schiavone for hours and recorded commentary during the last round of television tapings. He wanted to put the talent over, and he realized that they needed him in the role. Chris Jericho received ton of praise from Tony Khan for his efforts as well.
