Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of WWE NXT. Please keep refreshing throughout the show for constant updates once it kicks off at 8:00 PM EST.

While WWE has only announced two matches for tonight, they are major matches that make tonight’s edition of NXT a must-see! Let’s run down the sparse card and look at these two star-studded matches.

First up, we have a six-woman ladder match to determine the #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. While Rhea Ripley lost the championship at WrestleMania to Charlotte Flair, Ripley will not get a crack at the new champion. Rather, one of the competitors in tonight’s match will.

The women in tonight’s match are Candice LeRae, Mia Yim, Io Shirai, Tegan Nox, Chelsea Green, and Dakota Kai. All six of these women have been in the upper mid-card of the NXT Women’s division, and a win tonight will place them solidly in the NXT main event in the coming weeks.

Also on the card tonight, we have the Black Heart vs. the Rebel Heart, as Johnny Gargano will take on Tommaso Ciampa in a match that is being billed as “One Final Beat.” Two weeks ago, Triple H announced that this match will be the final chapter in the feud between these two, and this is perhaps the most anticipated match in NXT history.

Ciampa and Gargano have been provided an empty building, a ring, and a referee. There are no disqualifications, no count-outs, this match must have a clear winner. Two men walk in, but only one will walk out. Who will emerge with the victory in the final chapter in this heated, deeply personal rivalry?

We will be here live to cover both of these matches as they happen, and coverage begins when NXT goes live tonight at 8:00 PM EST!

Opening Segment

We see a preview of the events leading up to Gargano and Ciampa’s match tonight.

Mauro Ranallo seems to be running solo tonight on commentary, and we head straight into the six-woman ladder match.

Io Shirai vs. Candice LeRae vs. Dakota Kai vs. Tegan Nox vs. Chelsea Green vs. Mia Yim to Determine the #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship

Robert Stone accompanies Chelsea Green down to the ring, so one must imagine that Stone’s presence at ringside will make a difference in this match. Also, Raquel Gonzalez accompanies Dakota Kai, so one must think that Gonzalez will also make a difference in the match, especially where Tegan Nox is considered.

All six women stare each other down once the bell rings, but they eventually pair off. Mia Yim goes after Chelsea Green, Dakota Kai goes after Tegan Nox, and Shirai takes on LeRae.

Kai takes advantage of the pairings and gets a surprise attack on Shirai and Yim. Kai asks Gonzalez to get a ladder and bring it in the ring, but LeRae dropkicks the ladder into Gonzalez. Kai gets surrounded by LeRae, Nox, and Yim, and they tee off on her.

Yim, Nox, and LeRae hit sentons on Kai in the corner, but Shirai comes in and hits a double dropkick on Yim and Nox, then hits a flapjack on LeRae. Shirai gets a ladder and brings it into the ring, but LeRae hits an enziguri on Shirai. Green hit a double bulldog on Shirai and LeRae onto the ladder, and we go to commercial.

Back from commercial and Chelsea Green was trying to use a chair to her advantage. Yim takes her out. Kai and Nox are in the ring squaring off on each other, trading kicks, clotheslines, and strikes. Nox eventually hits a chokeslam on Kai.

Green tries to get a ladder in the ring, but Nox pushes the ladder into Green, sending her into the barricade. Nox sets up the ladder in the middle of the ring and climbs the ladder, but Kai goes up the ladder on the other side.

Candice LeRae pulls Kai down, but Green and Kai take out Nox and LeRae. They begin to climb the ladder, but Shirai and Yim take down Kai and Green and they climb the ladder. LeRae and Nox set up another ladder next to the first, but Yim is the only one standing as she climbs the ladder.

Green grabs a chair and hits Yim with it, but Yim smashed the chair into Green. Shirai hits Yim with a slingshot into a ladder and she begins to climb the ladder, but Raquel Gonzalez pushes the ladder over and sends her Shirai crashing into all of the women on the outside as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial and Raquel Gonzalez is the only woman standing. She goes to the outside and picks up Dakota Kai, then rolls her back into the ring. Gonzalez gets back into the ring herself and picks up Kai on her shoulders. Gonzalez climbs the ladder with Kai on her shoulders.

Yim stops Gonzalez from climbing further, but Kai gets on the ladder and keeps climbing. LeRae runs in and takes down Kai, stopping her from going any higher. Meanwhile, Yim and Nox hit a chokeslam powerbomb combo on Gonzalez, sending her through a table.

Kai follows this up with a kick to Nox’s face, sending her crashing into a ladder on the outside. Kai and LeRae climb the ladder, but Shirai hits some springboard offense onto Kai, then takes down Candice LeRae.

Robert Stone picks up Chelsea Green outside the ring and encourages her to get back in the ring. She begins to climb the ladder, but her left leg is injured too much for her to climb the ladder.

Stone gets in the ring and climbs the ladder on the opposite side, helping Chelsea climb the ladder. They get to the top, but Shirai and LeRae push the ladder over, sending Stone and Green out of the ring.

LeRae and Shirai set the ladder back up and they both climb the ladder, reaching the top. They trade blows at the top of the ladder, but Shirai gets the advantage by raking LeRae’s eyes. She pushes LeRae off the ladder, sending her crashing onto another ladder in the ring. Shirai grabs the briefcase and wins the match.

Winner: Io Shirai

Rinku tags in Saurav who hits a scoop slam on Chase Parker. Rinku tags back in, and they hit a double armdrag on Parker. Matt Martel tries to rally behind Chase Parker, but Rinku kicks away at Rinku. Saurav tags in and takes out Martel, then hits a corner clothesline on Parker.

Saurav gets the tag and comes in the ring, taking down Parker with a big boot. They hit a pendulum backbreaker/elbow drop combo on Parker, covering him for three.

Winners: Indus Sher

We see a video from NXT Champion Adam Cole where he congratulates Velveteen Dream on his victory over Bobby Fish, but Dream still doesn’t deserve a shot at the NXT Championship. Cole says that one day, he might decide to end Velveteen Dream.

Still to come tonight, One Final Beat between the Black Heart and the Rebel Heart. But up next, we “revisit” the WrestleMania match between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte, after this commercial break.

Back from commercial, Mauro tells us that next week, we will begin a tournament to crown an interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion, as Jordan Devlin is unable to make it to the United States to defend the championship.

We see highlights from the NXT Women’s Championship match between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte from Night 2 of WrestleMania 36. You can see our full coverage of Night 2 of WrestleMania 36 here.

We see an interview with Charlotte backstage at WrestleMania 36. She says that her dad told her it was the man that makes the suit. She says that it is the woman who makes the title, and she is a two-time NXT Women’s Champion. She says that Ripley was “alright,” but she bowed down to the queen like everyone else.

Ripley is also seen after her match and she is visibly upset. All she says is, “She was a lot better than I expected.”

Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa, One Final Beat

Johnny Gargano pulls up to the building in a silver SUV wearing a modified #DIY shirt. Candice LeRae appears and Johnny says to her, “You know that I have to do this. Before she leaves, she grabs something out of the car wrapped in a paper bag and puts it in Johnny’s hand.

Gargano and Ciampa appear in the building ar the same time. Triple H is there, and he welcomes them. He says that it starts in the ring, it ends in the ring. He says that he doesn’t care what happens, but when it is done, it is done. Triple H tosses a chair in the middle of the ring, and says, “When I walk out the door, it’s on.”

Triple H leaves and Gargano and Ciampa get in the ring. Ciampa kicks the chair away and Gargano and Ciampa trade blows. Gargano gets the upper hand on Ciampa, but Ciampa turns it around and whips Gargano into the corner.

Gargano catches Ciampa with a boot to the face and goes for his slingshot spear, but Ciampa catches him with a kick. Gargano is grounded and we go to commercial break.

Back from commercial, and Ciampa is still in control. He is punching away at Gargano while Gargano is grounded. He slingshots Gargano facefirst into the bottom turnbuckle and sits down next to Gargano. Ciampa tries to set up Gargano for a Widow’s Bell, but Gargano escapes and throws Ciampa’s leg into the ring post knee first.

Gargano gets out of the ring and taunts Ciampa about his torn ACL. He punches away at Ciampa’s face. He goes for a suplex on the outside, but Ciampa blocks it and picks up Gargano. Instead of hitting a suplex, he slams Gargano facefirst into the ring post, then drops him on his head.

Ciampa clears off a table and throws Johnny back in the ring. Johnny tosses Ciampa back out then hits a rope onto Ciampa on the outside. Gargano sits on the ring apron and claps, taunting Ciampa. He eventually picks up Ciampa and throws him into some empty boxes and chairs at ringside.

Gargano punches Ciampa’s face, then slams a garbage can lid across his back. Gargano hits Ciampa with a trash can across the back, then tosses Ciampa back in the ring. Ciampa grabs the chair in the ring, but Gargano stands on it, stopping Ciampa from using it.

Gargano stomps away at Ciampa, then grabs the chair. He uses the edge of the chair and hits Ciampa in all of the places on Ciampa’s body where he had surgery. Gargano sets up the chair and sits down in the ring.

Ciampa grabs his neck out of pain and Gargano just stares at him. Then he picks the chair up and hits him with the chair. Gargano sets up the chair in the corner and picks up Ciampa. He tries to slam Ciampa facefirst into the chair, but Ciampa turns it around and throws Johnny into it, and we go to commercial.

Back from commercial and Ciampa has been sent out of the ring. Gargano tries to dive onto him on the outside, but Ciampa hits him in the head with the garbage lid. Ciampa follows it up and hits Gargano with a running knee, using the garbage lid. Ciampa hits Gargano with the lid across his back.

Gargano tries to grab the chair, but Ciampa puts the chair on Gargano’s neck and throws Gargano facefirst into the ring post. Ciampa taunts Gargano and yells “Quit!” at him. Gargano is wheezing, and Ciampa stomps on him over and over before finding a crutch.

Ciampa picks up the crutch and says, “This brings back memories.” Ciampa pushes the crutch into Gargano’s neck and yells at Johnny, telling him that he came back from his torn ACL for Johnny, not for the fans. Ciampa has the upper hand, but Johnny finds a fire extinguisher and blows it in Ciampa’s face.

Johnny tries to powerbomb Ciampa through a table, but Ciampa blocked it and hit Gargano with a powerbomb through the table instead. Ciampa stands over Gargano before grabbing wire cutters and cutting the string that ties the canvas down. He cuts a fair bit of it free from one corner, then does to another corner.

The referee tries to stop him by telling him that it is too far, but Ciampa doesn’t stop. He pulls back the canvas and the padding, revealing the wood underneath in a corner of the ring. Gargano tries to distract Ciampa by throwing a cord at him, but it misses and lands in the ring.

Ciampa goes out of the ring and hits Johnny, and Johnny collapses. Gargano can’t take it. He leaves the building. Ciampa calls out, “It ends in here,” before giving chase to Gargano. Outside, Gargano hits Ciampa with a production cart, then Gargano slams Ciampa’s face into the production truck.

Ciampa is on the ground, and Johnny tries to roll the production card into Ciampa, but Ciampa rolls under the production truck and to the other side. Ciampa climbs the truck portion and then gets on top of the truck. He looks down at Gargano, and taunts Johnny, daring Gargano to follow.

Gargano gives chase. Ciampa and Gargano stare each other down from the top of this production truck. They trade punches, but Gargano eventually lands a superkick on Ciampa. Ciampa chops Gargano, but Gargano catches him with a second superkick. Ciampa retaliates with a superkick of his own.

Ciampa acts like his going to throw Gargano off the top of the truck, but instead, Gargano rolls out of the way of a stomp. Gargano locks in a Gargano Escape on top of the truck, but eventually lets go. Gargano goes for another superkick, but Ciampa blocks it and kicks away at Gargano, as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, Gargano gets back in the building. Ciampa gives chase and Gargano dives off of set dressing onto Ciampa. Gargano says “It ends in here. It ends where you wanted.” Gargano rolls Ciampa back in the ring and puts him back on the top turnbuckle.

Ciampa picks up Gargano and hits an Air Raid Crash onto Gargano to the outside of the ring. Ciampa rolls Gargano back in the ring and covers Gargano for two. Then, we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, and Ciampa grabs his crutch and brings it back in the ring. He goes to swing it at Gargano, but Gargano hits Ciampa with a trashcan lid to the knee. Gargano grabs the crutch and uses it to try to make Ciampa submit. Ciampa grabs the trash can lid and makes Gargano break the hold.

Gargano hits Ciampa with a trash can lid over and over again. Gargano grabs the crutch and uses it to stand, then hits Ciampa with a superkick. Gargano hits another superkick on Ciampa. Gargano tells Ciampa that Ciampa is a failure.

He picks up Ciampa’s face with the crutch, but Ciampa laughs at him. Gargano calls Ciampa a monster. Gargano says, “Willow’s gonna thank me for this,” before trying to swing at Ciampa. Ciampa loses it and unloads on Gargano with the crutch until the crutch breaks. Then, we go to commercial.

Ciampa tries to take out Gargano with the broken crutch, but Gargano dodges. Gargano tries to go for the Gargano Escape, but Ciampa reverses it. Gargano escapes the hold, and Ciampa tries to hit Gargano with a running knee. Gargano moves and Ciampa hits the referee.

Outside the ring, Gargano picks up Ciampa and rolls him into the ring. Ciampa hits Gargano with a Widow’s Bell, then covers Gargano, but the referee is out and unavailable to count the pin. Ciampa sits up and Gargano tries to touch Ciampa’s hand, but Ciampa pulls away.

Ciampa grabs a piece of the broken crutch, but Gargano hits a superkick. He tries to use the other piece of the crutch, but Ciampa catches him with a kick. They both swing at each other at the same time and both collapse.

Candice LeRae comes int the building and comes between Gargano and Ciampa, begging Johnny to stop. She asks Johnny “Who are you?” and asks Ciampa, “Are you happy?” She tells Tommaso to finish it. He won’t, and she says, “I’ll finish it.” She kicks Johnny with a low blow, then leaves the ring.

Tommaso stares at Johnny, and looks down at his feet. He takes a knee at looks at Johnny, who is still writhing in pain. Gargano tries to lovingly put a hand on Gargano, but Gargano pulls away. Johnny rolls onto his back and cries. Ciampa sits next to him and seems to be comforting him.

They share an embrace, and Ciampa apologizes. He stands up, and Johnny says, “I’m sorry too.” Candice hits Ciampa with a low blow and smiles. Johnny pulls out a cup, which is what she handed him at the beginning of the match. Johnny holds it in Ciampa’s face and says, “You lose.” He hits Ciampa with a Fairytale Ending, and the referee has returned to count the pinfall.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Gargano has a deranged smile on his face, but leaves the ring and celebrates with Candice as they leave the arena. She helps him to their SUV, holding him around the waist. Ciampa is shown in the ring recovering. Candicedrives away with Johnny in tow as NXT goes off the air.
