WWE RAW has featured a few intense segments on the microphone where Superstars had to speak their minds without any live crowd reaction. This is a departure from the usual way of doing things.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how different the promos have been recently. Paul Heyman is influencing reality-based promos which can be seen with The Undertaker and AJ Styles calling each other out by using their real names.

It was noted that this is a unique set of circumstances, but Vince McMahon obviously gave them a bit more free rein than he used to.

“One of the aspects of these promos being different and good is that you know that mentality which nobody else would do there. I’m pretty sure you’re not gonna see it on SmackDown on Friday and I don’t think that Vince would ever do it on his own, but he’s giving Paul [Heyman] you know, I’m not saying free rein, because nobody gets free rein, but he’s giving him some reign and the promos are showing that.”
