Much of the indie wrestling scene is shut down due to current circumstances. GCW didn’t close their doors for The Acid Cup 2 event. The show did feature a match that borrowed from the world’s current situation.

Braun Strowman had some pretty harsh words for out of work indie wrestlers.

Joey Janela competed during the Game Changer Wrestling event in an innovative match. He wrestled Jimmy Lloyd in a “social distancing match.” The rules of this contest are exactly what it sounds like.

If you ever wanted to see a wrestler put their opponent in a headlock without touching them, then just check out the video below. It was a very interesting idea.

We’ve included a couple of clips below including one non-contact table breaking spot. The Canadian Destroyer was pretty impressive too.

There wasn’t a crowd and the referee was wearing a face mask. This was a full show, but Janela vs Lloyd was the only “social distancing match.”

Hopefully, the COVID-19 situation will pass us by. It will take proper precautions and being careful. Social distancing is going to be required by a lot of people too. This match might be ahead of its time in many ways.

Watch the video below if you’d like to check out a real match between Joey Janela and Jimmy Lloyd from GCW Curtain Call on September 30th, 2019.
