WWE Elimination Chamber is going down on March 8th, but they’re not done messing with the card.

The company previously promoted a men’s Elimination Chamber match for this year’s event. It even appeared on the Wells Fargo Arena website. Now that match is not happening.

Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the company will only be holding two Elimination Chamber matches this year. They will have a women’s match and a tag team contest.

Roman Reigns was hypothetically slated to win the Elimination Chamber match and claim a WrestleMania main event spot against Goldberg.

It wasn’t noted exactly why Roman Reigns was handed the Goldberg match. The idea was floated out there that since fans already knew Roman was winning the Elimination Chamber match then the company just cut the entire idea.

It is interesting that WWE nixed the men’s Elimination Chamber match. It is/was a yearly tradition. They went ahead and gave Roman Reigns his Goldberg match for the Universal Title on Friday Night SmackDown this week instead.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
