WrestleMania is only weeks away, and Rhea Ripley seems ready for a big match on the grandest stage of them all. Her impending match against Charlotte Flair has brought others to wonder if more champions from NXT will be defending their titles in Tampa.
NXT TakeOver: Tampa needs a title match or two. You also never know if they might insert an NXT UK or Cruiserweight title defense into TakeOver as well. It looks like WrestleMania is only getting one title match from NXT.
Mike Johnson said during PW Insider Elite’s audio Q&A that Rhea Ripley is currently the only champion from the black and gold brand defending their title at WrestleMania 36.
“As of yesterday I was told that the NXT Women’s Championship that will be the only currently planned as of today — the only NXT Championship match at WrestleMania.”
“As of right now I was told that only Charlotte vs Rhea or Bianca if it becomes a 3-way which was not the original plan — that will be the NXT Championship match that will be featured on that show.”
Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair could have an ending that would logically see The Queen return to NXT. That only adds to the excitement, but as of right now there are no plans for more NXT Title matches on the show of shows.
