The Inner Circle didn’t take long to break out in AEW and take a main focus on Dynamite. They are quite a faction, but things were almost very different for them.

During Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho discussed the formation of the Inner Circle with his guest Sammy Guevara. He talked with The Spanish God about the origins of The Inner Circle even revealed some original ideas for the All Elite Wrestling faction’s name.

“Tony’s original name, I can’t remember what it was, I didn’t like it as much,” Jericho explained to Guevara. “Then I came up with the idea of a fist, which would be five fingers forms a fist, and I thought it would just be some cool merch. Tony didn’t care for that one, but I had done something for BTE (Being The Elite) where I mentioned my inner circle and The Bucks said ‘that’s a cool name, what about The Inner Circle?’”

Once they locked down the name, creative began coming up with who should be in the group. Chris Jericho said that he wanted MJF, but AEW wanted him to be on his own. AEW suggested The Lucha Bros to Jericho, but Proud n Powerful were more fitting.

“One of the ideas originally was The Lucha Brothers and I thought they were too much like superheroes. I wanted killers and Santana and Ortiz were perfect.”

The rest, as they say, is history. The Inner Circle likely have plenty of stories to tell in All Elite Wrestling. No stable can really last forever, but this will certainly be an entertaining ride while it lasts.
