Trademarks are very important in pro wrestling. If someone owns the rights to something then they don’t have to worry about people stealing their idea. That was almost a problem for Joey Janela.

In recent weeks, WWE has started calling Rusev “The Bad Boy.” This was something that was said multiple times at Starrcade and on RAW. Of course, Joey Janela is The Bad Boy and he’s had that moniker for a long time.

Janela has now filed a trademark for the name “The Bad Boy.” This is certainly to keep it away from WWE as The Bad Boy tweeted out:

You gotta do what you gotta do. Sorry Rusev

Hopefully, this trademark goes through because Joey Janela has been using that moniker even before Rusev Day was even a thing.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
