WWE has a lot of plans, but you never know when those plans could change. It appears that they had to call a huge audible with their Saudi Arabian travel issues and that caused a ripple effect that ended up tweaking Survivor Series.

The Miz is scheduled to face Bray Wyatt’s Fiend at the Mexico City event later on for the Universal Title. The original direction was The Miz vs The Fiend at Survivor Series as well. Dave Meltzer explained during Wrestling Observer Radio why those plans had to change.

“I believe the original idea was The Fiend against The Miz and they were going to shoot that angle on the show that got messed up from Saudi Arabia.”

Tommaso Ciampa showed up on that fateful improvised SmackDown and beat The Miz. Perhaps that was enough for Vince McMahon to take the A-Lister out of the match against Bray Wyatt. The thinking could have been that since Ciampa beat The Miz then nobody would believe that The Miz would be able to compete with The Fiend for the Universal Title.

Either way, it is certainly interesting because Daniel Bryan’s insertion into the Universal Title picture also meant that WWE had to change their plans to change more plans.
