One of the most intriguing rises to prominence over the course of the last few years has been that of Cody Rhodes, who was able to make an even bigger name for himself in the wake of his departure from WWE.

Now, he sits atop the throne as one of the men leading the charge for All Elite Wrestling. It’s been a long journey for him to get to this point, but now, he’s able to sit back and admire his work ahead of AEW’s big debut on TNT in a few weeks time.

Beyond that, though, at AEW Full Gear, he’ll get the opportunity to make history of a different kind as he prepares to challenge Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship.

There are many critics that have immediately jumped to the conclusion that Cody is simply going to book himself to win the title which, in the eyes of a lot of fans, would put a real stain on the early history of the promotion and the title in question.

Regardless of whether or not you buy into that, the bottom line is we’re going to be in for one hell of a match between Jericho and Rhodes when they meet in Baltimore. Prior to that, with around a month for them to hype and build the show on TV, we’re expecting to see a lot of fireworks between these two.

Will Cody be able to become only the second AEW World Champion in history? Only time will tell.
