AEW’s television show is starting in the fall. The speculated first show for All Elite Wrestling on TNT is October 2nd if they air the show on Wednesday nights, but the company has held off on officially announcing that plan at this point.

There might be a really good reason why AEW is holding off on making anything official because WWE is likely to counter their programming in some way. At this point, this new pro wrestling war certainly has Vince McMahon’s attention.

Dave Meltzer said during Wrestling Observer Radio that there is a very strong possibility that WWE will try to counter AEW with NXT. However, they might just move NXT to FS1 in order to provide extra competition for The Elite.

“I think that’s the logical move, yes. I believe Vince will do that. I don’t know that he’s doing it, but thinking like Vince I believe that’s what he’ll do.”

Bryan Alvarez said that it’s crazy that there were no talks of moving NXT to FS1 before, but now with AEW coming around “it’s probably gonna happen.” This is very interesting and could be considered a strong counter to AEW’s audience.

However, as we previously reported the idea of moving NXT to FS1 has been strongly floated out there in the past. If anything, Meltzer noted that WWE will set up their weekly FS1 talk show up to compete against AEW.

AEW will offer a live television show. As long as NXT is still pretaped, it might not do that much damage, but it will still certainly take a considerable chunk out of AEW’s fanbase or at least cause them to flip between TNT and FS1 if WWE does make this move.
