Eric Bischoff is the new Executive Director of SmackDown Live which is a very interesting position for him to be in. Needless to say, fans weren’t the only ones who didn’t see this one coming at all.
Dave Meltzer discussed Bischoff’s new role in WWE during Wrestling Observer Radio. He revealed that there is negativity toward Eric Bischoff’s new position, especially in the office. Because Superstars, for the most part, weren’t around to see how bad things got with Bischoff in control of WCW.
“There’s definitely negativity towards Eric because I’ve seen it, I’ve heard it. I don’t think so much among the wrestlers. I think it’s more among office people. I think that they’re — probably because they’re the ones that can see through Eric whereas the wrestlers are just like, ‘Oh yeah, you know they did that when I was a kid.’ When you were a kid you just don’t realize how badly it was… I guess if you were being run off [as a fan].”
We will just have to give Eric Bischoff a chance to see what he can do with his new position in the company. It is only fair to give him a chance, but it is also very important to remember that Vince McMahon is still the ultimate say-so in the company so anything on television will probably have McMahon’s fingerprints on it in some form or fashion no matter what they end up doing.
Bischoff started the long move to Stamford this morning so he hasn’t even started his new job yet. This is definitely a “wait and see” kind of situation.
