WWE dropped a bombshell on the pro wrestling world when they announced that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff will now be taking over RAW and SmackDown respectively in Executive Director roles.

Now WWE is commenting in an official capacity as they outlines the new roles for Heyman and Bischoff as well as what kind of influence they will have on the product.

In their executive roles, Heyman and Bischoff will oversee the creative development of WWE’s flagship programming and ensure integration across all platforms and lines of business. The creation of these roles further establishes WWE’s ability to continuously reinvent its global brand while providing two distinct creative processes for its flagship shows.

Paul Heyman had previously been working with WWE creative and was very hands on with Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey’s programs. Now it appears as though he will be getting even more power. Eric Bischoff’s return to WWE in this capacity is especially interesting as well.

This is a very exciting decision by WWE. They are bringing in two great minds who had a lot to do with the previous pro wrestling boom. Hopefully, it will help draw interest to the product, but at least it means that fresh ideas will now be a part of the backstage scene.
