AEW is going to not only supply an alternative for professional wrestling fans, but to wrestlers as well. Ricochet was one of the hottest names in the indies and NXT, but since his debut on the main roster it has reportedly been “eye opening.”

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that “a ton” of main roster and NXT Superstars in WWE are looking to make a jump to AEW. One of the main driving factors is the lighter road schedule, but WWE’s creative process is also a sticking point.

There’s the feeling in NXT among people that either it’ll take so long to get to the main roster and it’s just harder to become a star in WWE because of how things are done, and there are people in NXT who kind of recognize that even if they are stars in NXT, unless there is a regime change, it’s going to be hard to be one on the main roster.

It is also reported that WWE’s treatment of Ricochet has been an “eye opener.” He had a ton of momentum behind him, but now he is losing with 50/50 booking on the main roster without it making much sense at all.

WWE has most Superstars signed to three-year deals and some top stars are signed to five-year deals or longer. Some WWE Superstars aren’t going to risk the unknown after leaving WWE because the company isn’t releasing anyone right now due to the current professional wrestling landscape and the fact that nobody with any sort of name remains unsigned for long unless there is some other issue in play.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
