TJP is no longer a WWE Superstar, but he is still apparently doing quite well. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion is now taking dates on the indies and he was recently confirmed for Starrcast as well. He also got a much better deal from WWE than some of his co-workers.

As he spoke to Wrestling Inc, Perkins explained some of the benefits of working on 205 Live and still getting paid main roster money. He also received some nice bonuses such as merchandise in a pretty big way as WWE pushed his image out to make him a true Superstar.

“If you’re on NXT and you’re wrestling on the main roster, that’s the best-case scenario because you’re making a lot extra and getting to keep a lot of it because you don’t have to handle rental cars and stuff like that.”

“I did really well at the gate. I think even to this day none of the cruiserweights lucked out as much as what I got initially. I got like six shirts and two action figures and some of the guys are just getting their first shirts and figures now, which sucks. That’s something that could have really helped the perception of the cruiserweights in terms of the fans if there was more stuff like that put out.”

TJ Perkins was released from WWE reportedly for backstage issues. He also got some tattoos that might have been done without the company knowing about it. That kind of thing needs to be approved so they know about it before releasing more merchandise with his image on it.

It seems like he is doing okay now. The book is far from closed for TJ Perkins because this is just another chapter in his pro wrestling journey.
