Goldberg will be making the trip to Saudi Arabia in order to work with WWE. This was a rather surprising announcement, but WWE obviously had their reasons.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that a very strong possibility why WWE elected to bring Goldberg on for the upcoming Saudi Arabia show is because they want to keep him from AEW.

“The Bill Goldberg deal, they called Bill Goldberg obviously… Bill Goldberg didn’t call them. And the Bill Goldberg deal is to sign him to a deal, which they wouldn’t have done except they feared that he would go to AEW. And they wanted to make sure that there was no mainstream guy that they can add to that roster that might get them off, that curiosity that might get viewership or anything like that.”

Goldberg’s affiliation with AEW has been rumored since before the pro wrestling company even launched. There are connections through agent Barry Bloom and the organization so people assumed it could be possible.

Goldberg is obviously in good shape as well. It will be interesting to see how big he is by June 7th, but he probably has time to hit the gym hard in the meantime.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
