WrestleMania is less than two weeks away and SmackDown Live certainly included some real momentum toward the show of shows. We got a big match added to the show, but we already kind of saw it coming.
The New Day came out to start SmackDown Live this week and acted like they were quitting WWE. They thanked the fans and got some “Kofi” chants going. Big E said that he and Kofi talked about walking away and the only person who could help change their minds was Vince McMahon.
McMahon came out and got in the ring with the New Day. Then Daniel Bryan came out and told McMahon to let them quit. He said Kofi lost over and over and not to let The New Day get in his head.
Vince told everyone to shut up and then he booked a tag team gauntlet match for later on in the show. If Big E and Xavier Woods won then Kofi Kingston would be in the WWE Title match at WrestleMania.
Later on, Big E and Xavier woods defeated Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows very quickly and they took out Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura next. The Bar gave them quite a bit of trouble and put Big E through a table after they were defeated.
The Usos came out and cut a promo about how Kofi should be in the match and he earned everyone’s respect. Then they wished Big E and Woods good luck and forfeited their spots.
Daniel Bryan and Rowan came out next and took advantage of them in a big way. It didn’t look good, but Big E and Xavier Woods turned things around.
The match ended after Big E pinned Rowan under a table and Woods took out Daniel Bryan with a DDT off the apron. Then the referee counted to 10 and Kofi Kingston won his spot to WrestleMania.
After the match was over, The New Day celebrated in a big way. Then the rest of the blue brand babyfaces came to the ring and circled it to join in on the celebration.
