Kevin Owens may have ‘stolen’ the Stunner from Stone Cold Steve Austin in the eyes of many fans, but as it turns out, he may have a receipt for it.

Owens recently returned to action as a revamped babyface on SmackDown Live in order to challenge Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship. While that ultimately proved to be an unsuccessful venture, fans were just happy to see him back in the picture – with a brand new move.

The move was the Stunner, which led many fans to wonder whether or not KO had received ‘permission’ from Austin in order to use it. Either way it was a pretty effective move back in the day, and it still is in the modern era.

As you can see, back in the day it seems as if Stone Cold himself used a variation of Kevin Owens’ Pop-Up Powerbomb. In an amusing Twitter reply, the former Universal Champion used it as evidence that the two men were now ‘even’.

Kevin Owens vs Stone Cold is actually a pretty fun match to think about when you take the time to consider the many possibilities that it holds. The dynamic between the two men in the ring would be intriguing, and the trash talking beforehand (and probably during) would be on another level.

Of course, it’s incredibly unlikely that something of this nature would ever happen, but we can always dream.

Owens’ trajectory heading into WrestleMania is currently unknown, although fans remain hopeful that he’ll be given a program of real meaning.
