Drew McIntyre spent years away from WWE working promotions around the world like Impact Wrestling, EVOLVE and Insane Championship Wrestling under the name Drew Galloway to hone his craft and become a better performer.

After returning to WWE through NXT, McIntyre quickly became a fan favorite and captured the NXT Championship from Bobby Roode before Roode got the call-up to SmackDown Live. He’d eventually be injured in the same match that he lost his NXT Championship to Andrade “Cien” Almas in.

After Dolph Ziggler made the jump to RAW, McIntyre followed as an added layer of protection. The two were allies and would become RAW Tag Team Champions together before losing the titles to Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose. We all know how that one turned out.

During a recent interview with Planeta Wrestling, McIntyre was asked to give an overview of his relationship with Ziggler, given everything the two achieved since McIntyre returned to the main roster following his injury down in NXT.

McIntyre would go on to explain that he felt taken advantage of. It was due to his presence that Ziggler won the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the RAW Tag Team Championship. He claims he made Ziggler relevant for the first time in his career.

“Dolph certainly took advantage of the alliance, since I won him the [Intercontinental] Championship, and I single-handedly won the Tag Team Titles, and made him relevant again – for the first time in his entire career. So I think it’s the other way around, Dolph took advantage of me. But he brought me in to RAW, we were a formidable duo, and now that I’m on my own, I’m about to fulfill my destiny. Get my hands on that Universal Championship. But first, I’ve got to win that Royal Rumble.”

McIntyre is one of thirty participants scheduled to compete in the men’s Royal Rumble match this Sunday at Chase Field Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.
