The Revival requested their WWE release on Monday after their match with the Lucha House Party on Raw. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirmed this report from Bodyslam.net adding that Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder were still in their wrestling attire when they asked the company to let them go.

Dave Meltzer expanded on this situation during Wrestling Observer Radio where he speculated that this request from The Revival could actually end up helping their status in WWE.

“After their match with Lucha House Party on Monday, The Revival said that they wanted their release. They didn’t get it, but that’s what they asked. So we’ll have to see how this one plays out.”

“I will say that people in the company who I have spoken with today were kinda like, ‘They should have been quiet and worked and let their contract expire and just left.'”

“I’m skeptical right now that they’ll let them go. I mean look at… I don’t wanna use the term ‘held people hostage,’ but it’s kinda like my gut says when I use the word that’s kinda what they’ve done with other people and that was in a much less competitive environment whether it was Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio and there are others too.”

“Yeah so but as far as these guys go, time will tell. Monday night they asked for their release. Another thing is that guys who aren’t happy are getting pushes now and they’re one of them. It’s not a secret that when they were… I don’t think that it was incorrect speculation that when you read the tea leaves that they’re leaving for a lot of reasons for some certain moves that they made so I think at that point once that word was kinda out that’s when they started getting a push.”

“So they may not get buried, they may just try to keep them happy and have them not leave.”

You never know how The Revival’s value in WWE might skyrocket after they requested their release. They have made no secret about wanting match with The Young Bucks and that’s not happening in WWE now.

WWE needs to keep their Superstars happy because there are other options out there now. We will keep you updated on any new developments on this story as more information is made available.
