Everyone loves a hometown hero, and previously in the night the IIconics won their match in surprising fashion, but later on, it was Buddy Murphy’s chance to do the same thing when he faced Cedric Alexander for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Murphy was on fire from the get-go hitting a dive to the outside and a double knee from the top rope once then returned to the ring for a two count. Corey Graves said Murphy was “swinging for the fences from the early moments,” which is exactly what happened.

Alexander hadn’t lost a match this entire year and he held the Cruiserweight Championship for 180 days after winning the title during the WrestleMania 34’s kickoff show. He came back with fire and a couple near falls complete with a dive to the outside, but he couldn’t put the Aussie down at the Super Show-Down.

Murphy hit a sit-down powerbomb from the top rope for a very close two-count that popped the crowd when they thought a title change might happen. Alexander hit several more moves including a Lumbar Check and Buddy Murphy kicked out again to pop the crowd huge once again who wanted to see their hometown boy win the title.
Alexander went for a springboard but caught a knee and then Buddy Murphy hit his finisher and captured the title in his hometown. The crowd went absolutely bananas.
