Wrestlers are people too- and they often undergo a number of hardships only those within the industry itself may be able to understand. Whether positive or negative, every wrestler has dealt with their own demons throughout their career in some aspect.

Sadly for former two-time TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion Ayako Hamada, she was the latest wrestler to get caught up in her own demons. Hamada- the daughter of the legendary Gran Hamada was arrested back on May 13 in Tokyo at her home.

Police were initially called to Hamada’s house after the wrestler told a promoter that she would miss their show as she was being held at knifepoint by someone. Ultimately, Hamada was found acting strange. The subsequent investigation led the police to test her for drugs, which she tested positive for. She would then admit to taking said drugs from her nose.

The latest update to this story is that the wrestler has now been sentenced to 18 months in prison. Drug charges are cited as the factor, according to Yahoo Japan. You can find more information through the tweet we’ve included below.

Hamada has been forced to depart Pro Wrestling Wave and was stripped of the Sendai Girls Pro Wrestling World title due to this whole incident.

We can only hope Hamada is clean and stable upon her release from prison in over a year.
