James Ellsworth came back to really shake things up, especially for Asuka. After all, Asuka was on her way to defeating Carmella for the SmackDown Women’s Title when he got involved.

Bryan Alvarez addressed a rumor he heard during Wrestling Observer Live where he discussed the fact the heart James Ellsworth and Carmella was going to be taking on Asuka at Extreme Rules.

“It’s not official yet but that’s certainly the rumor […] We’ve seen mixed tags, we had one at WrestleMania. We just can’t have the men beat up the women. The women can beat up the men. So basically you have to do a match where Asuka beats up James Ellsworth but he doesn’t lay a hand on her and Asuka and Carmella beat each other up and then somehow you do a finish.”

It might not be pretty, but booking an intergender handicap match could be a good way to get Asuka to SummerSlam without the SmackDown Women’s Title. Only time will tell how WWE books this situation but it looks like we might be headed toward Asuka vs both Carmella and James Ellsworth at Extreme Rules.
