The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla already made waves at the beginning of the year when he challenged NJPW Ace Kenny Omega to a No DQ matchup at WrestleKingdom 12 for the IWGP United States Championship. Although he did come up just short, the bout was met with fantastic reviews, and showed that Y2J still has a lot left in the gas tank.

The following night at the New Year Dash event, Jericho showed up again, this time to attack Tetsuya Naito, who also suffered a heartbreaking loss to IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada in the main event from WK. Some thought this was just a blowoff to Jericho’s run in Japan. Little did they know it would set up to be one of the marquee matches for this Saturday’s Dominion PPV, with Naito’s IWGP Intercontinental Title on the line. Both men have traded a series of expletive filled promo’s that have really built this blood feud up, and today Jericho added more fuel to the fire. Jericho calls back on Naito’s failed attempt to main event WrestleKingdom 8, and how his match at WrestleKingdom 12 may have gone on last, but it was the semi-main next to Alpha and Omega.
