Very few titles have as storied a history as the Cruiserweight Championship. Around this time last year, TJ Perkins was crowned as the inaugural champion, and then he got bamboozled by Brian Kendrick. Around January this year, Neville won the title, and he’s dominated the division. Men such as Jack Gallagher, Austin Aries, and Akira Tozawa have all fallen to Neville.
The winds of change are blowing, though. No one remains a champion forever. What’s next for the title? Here are some bold predictions.
Enzo Amore
While it most definitely seems odd to put the title on easily the worst wrestler in the division, that seems to be the direction WWE is going. Ever since his demotion relegation transfer to 205 Live, Amore has been placed in a top spot. He just weaseled his way into becoming the number one contender to the Cruiserweight Championship. Stranger things have happened.
The writing is on the wall now. Neville will drop the title to Enzo somehow, and Enzo will become the face of the division in an attempt to breathe new life into the faltering division. Will it work? That remains to be seen.
I expect Enzo to hold the title for some time. He’ll probably feud for a bit with Brian Kendrick so that the veteran can maybe make him a better wrestler. The loudmouth can’t stay on top forever, though. Eventually, he’ll drop the title.
