WWE has been thrown into a messy situation after private sex tapes involving Paige, Xavier Woods, and former WWE Superstar Brad Maddox leaked online. The footage surfaced after Paige’s phone was reportedly stolen, leaving the company scrambling as the controversy spreads.
On today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the scandal. He mentioned that so far, he hasn’t heard anything concrete from WWE regarding how they plan to handle it. Meltzer also explained why the company is walking a tightrope with this situation.
Meltzer speculated that if WWE decides to punish Paige, they may be forced to take action against Xavier Woods as well, given his involvement in the footage. Meltzer pointed out that if Woods had not been part of the video, WWE would be facing a much easier decision, especially considering Paige’s past issues with failed drug tests and reportedly showing up late to events.
The company also faces an added complication due to their upcoming movie that’s centered around Paige’s life. WWE has already invested time and money into that project, and this scandal threatens to overshadow those plans.
There’s also the matter of Hulk Hogan, who has been absent from WWE following his own sex tape controversy. Meltzer noted that if WWE fires Paige because of the leaked videos, it could create a situation where bringing Hogan back becomes nearly impossible, given the backlash they’d likely face for treating the two cases differently.
Overall, the leaked footage has created a major headache for WWE, with no easy solution in sight.
