WWE has a huge deal coming up with Fox Sports that will see $1 billion coming into the company which is a huge gain from their current deal with Universal to be on USA Network. But, Fox has other properties which could take priority if the circumstances are right.
Fox also has a deal with Major League Baseball to air certain games and they have a deal to broadcast the World Series. Last Friday, on the same timeslot which SmackDown Live will soon occupy, Fox brought in 13 million viewers for the World Series and that is a big number to miss out on tuning into your network.
Therefore, it was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that while these situations are likely to be rare, WWE could find themselves broadcasting SmackDown Live on FS1.
It’s not much to ask that WWE would let Fox do this kind of deal in a deal where so much money is in play, but hopefully if they do make this kind of change-up they will be able to give fans plenty of notice so they have time to adjust their DVRs and tune into the correct channel.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
