The Undertaker and CM Punk faced off at WWE WrestleMania 29, where The Undertaker picked up his final victory at the event before Brock Lesnar broke his iconic streak in 2014.

The Undertaker faced CM Punk at WrestleMania 29 in a feud heavily influenced by the storyline use of the urn. Punk, with Paul Heyman’s help engaged in psychological warfare by mocking and disrespecting the urn to get inside Undertaker’s head. This storyline took on an even more emotional dimension as Paul Bearer passed away a month before WrestleMania 29.

On his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker shared his thoughts on using Paul Bearer in the storyline after Bearer had passed away. He explained that some people were concerned it might be disrespectful, but Undertaker felt differently, adding that Bearer would have loved for his death to be used in an angle.

“Everybody was a little uptight about bringing that to me, thinking it might be disrespectful. I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Paul would love the fact that even after he’s gone, that he’s still part of the story in such a vital way. That was the year I did the appearance at the Hall of Fame and paid honor to him there. They got their hands on the urn. I just knew, Paul being Paul, he would love still being part of the involvement and the angle. I don’t think he would have felt like it was disrespectful. It was cool and one of those deals where you motivate yourself. ‘I want to tear this down for him.’ That was my motivation. Paul would have loved to have been a situation standing across from Paul Heyman. I’m proud of that match, I thought it was really good.”
