The Rock is one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling as well as Hollywood, but he isn’t viewed in the best light all the time. In fact, he and Ryan Reynolds allegedly butted heads over tardiness on the set of ‘Red Notice.’

According to a report by TMZ, a reported conflict between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ryan Reynolds during the filming of “Red Notice” wasn’t as dramatic as some outlets suggested, but it was a genuine issue that required addressing. The incident occurred while the two were working on the 2021 action movie, co-starring Gal Gadot, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Sources with direct knowledge of the incident told TMZ that while The Wrap’s initial report suggested a “huge fight,” the actual confrontation was more subdued. The sources confirmed that Ryan Reynolds, who was the lead in the film, confronted The Rock about his consistent lateness to the set. This behavior impacted the shooting schedule, which was already complicated due to strict COVID protocols.

During the height of the pandemic, film sets were subject to stringent safety measures, making any delays particularly disruptive. Ryan Reynolds’ confrontation with The Rock centered around this concern, and it’s said that The Rock returned to work the next day, and the shoot continued without further issues.

Despite this moment of tension, the two actors handled the situation professionally, and the production was not derailed by their brief conflict. Sources with direct knowledge indicated that whatever problem arose was quickly resolved, and the relationship between Reynolds and Johnson remains intact. The incident didn’t negatively affect the movie’s production or its subsequent press activities.

Additionally, it’s noted that the reported extent of The Rock’s lateness has been greatly exaggerated, suggesting that while there were delays, they weren’t as severe as some reports suggested. The situation serves as a reminder of the challenges involved in film production during the pandemic and the importance of professionalism and communication in resolving conflicts on set.

A representative for Amazon MGM Studios told TMZ that these claims are both “ridiculous and false.” The studio clarified that Johnson and his production company, Seven Bucks, have been excellent partners during the production of “Red One,” emphasizing that the film’s positive testing results and strong reactions at CinemaCon reflect the hard work and dedication that went into its creation.

“Dwayne Johnson and Seven Bucks have been incredible partners on ‘Red One’ — a film that audiences of all ages are going to love this holiday season. Our testing has been very strong — the reaction from CinemaCon speaks for itself — and we couldn’t have made it without Dwayne’s constant work and support.”

Any reporting that implies that we got to this point with him showing up 7-8 hours late to set is both ridiculous and false.”

Even then, The Rock also allegedly cost ‘Red One’ $50 million due to his tardiness. Nevertheless, The Great One has other things to worry about and that is all that matters.
