WWE will be changing things up for its upcoming SmackDown event with a new stage set. In fact, they plan to utilize a special stage set for its return to Madison Square Garden.

WWE recently hosted an event at Madison Square Garden in New York City, featuring CM Punk’s in-ring WWE return during a December house show. The sold-out event achieved a significant milestone by setting a new record for the highest-grossing domestic non-televised live event in the history of the entire company.

WWE’s last TV event at the venue took place last July, drawing over 13,500 fans in attendance. The event made history by achieving the biggest live gate for an event at Madison Square Garden ever. Additionally, it marked the final WWE show at MSG under the ownership of the McMahon family, as the Endeavor Group’s acquisition of WWE went through.WWE is also set to return to the venue for a June 28th episode of SmackDown.

WWE will be utilizing a minimal stage setup for the event, a trend they have adopted for larger TV and pay-per-view events held in arenas. This approach was also employed during this past Monday night’s Raw at the Wells Fargo Center.
