Drew McIntyre is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in all of WWE at the moment. Drew McIntyre credits The Rock with giving him “a kick in the butt” regarding his WWE career, describing him as “down to earth.”

In July 2019, TMZ asked The Rock who he saw as the next WWE superstar after himself and John Cena. The Rock responded by praising Drew McIntyre, highlighting his great look, build, and connection with the audience, suggesting he could fill that role.

In a recent interview with The Scottish Sun, McIntyre spoke about The Rock’s continued passion for the wrestling business. He expressed admiration for The Rock’s enduring commitment to the industry, highlighting his journey from wrestling to becoming one of the biggest stars globally.

McIntyre emphasized the positive impact of The Rock’s return to wrestling, bringing in new fans who might initially be drawn by him but stay for talents like himself.

“When it comes to The Rock, it’s amazing he has such a passion for our business still.

It’s in his blood and inevitably he became one of the biggest stars of all time in our industry and then the biggest star on planet earth – and he still wants to come back to wrestling.

It can only be a good thing because it brings so many extra eyeballs and those people become new fans – maybe they came for The Rock and stayed for Drew McIntyre.”

It seems that Drew McIntyre was deeply impacted by The Rock’s words, which he reflected upon. He noted how it gave him the ‘kick in the butt’ that he needed.

“I spoke to him and thanked him for putting me over in a TMZ interview.

“I wasn’t doing anything in particular, it wasn’t like I was the next one to break through.

“I was just fulfilling my role on the show and he was asked who he could see being the next breakout star and mentioned me.

“It gave me a kick in the butt. When someone like The Rock believes in you, it’s pretty cool.

“The first chance we got, I thanked him for that privately and he was appreciative of that too.”

Drew McIntyre is set to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. Should he win, he will certainly make The Rock proud and then some, so we’ll have to see if that will happen.
