Matt Cardona was eventually released by WWE in 2020 and went on to achieve greater success outside the organization. He also made a surprise return during TNA Wrestling’s latest taping and now his status with the company following his shocking return has been revealed.

Amidst his flourishing career across multiple wrestling promotions, Cardona has made a surprising return to his roots in TNA Wrestling, just weeks after re-signing with GCW. At the latest TNA tapings, The Indy God was seen in the crowd, keeping a low profile and seemingly biding his time for the perfect moment to make his move.

He then came out during a women’s match and reunited with Steph De Lander by helping her win. According to Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, it was reported that there has been significant discussion regarding TNA offering per-date deals or contracts to talent recently, a situation that actually aligns with Cardona’s preferences.

Over a year ago, Cardona and the company parted ways as he opted not to sign a contract with them. When reached out to for comment, Cardona confirmed that he remains a free agent and is operating under a per-appearance agreement.

”There has been much made about TNA offering per date deals or contracts to talent of late, which actually works to Cardona’s favor. He and the company parted ways over a year ago, as he did not wish to sign a contract with them. We reached out to Cardona, who confirmed he’s still a free agent and on a per appearances agreement. He said “Alwayz. Then. Now. Forever. Quote me on that.”

With Cardona’s unexpected appearance at this week’s TNA tapings, it appears that he has some unresolved matters in the promotion. This motivation has driven the Indy God to view TNA as his next conquest, mirroring his successes across multiple promotions on the independent circuit. Stay tuned for further developments.
