The Undertaker’s dedication to entertaining fans, often at the cost of his own body, has elevated him to legendary status. Though he may no longer wrestle, he closely follows the evolution of modern professional wrestling and that especially includes WWE. Therefore, it comes as no surprise he endorsed a current WWE champion.

The WWE Hall of Famer commands immense respect worldwide and it is always a big deal if someone gets his seal of approval. In fact, one current WWE Superstar has particularly impressed him.

While speaking during his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker praised current WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther, expressing admiration for his skills and storytelling ability.

The Undertaker mentioned that he sees Gunther as a throwback to a different era but believes the sky’s the limit for him. He also added that if they were to mix it up in the ring, they’d likely end up in a fistfight after just a couple of chops.

“I really like him,” Undertaker said. “I think the sky’s the limit for him. I think he’s a little bit of a throwback to a different era, but has the ability to work and tell stories. I mean he just had that match with Dom [Mysterio] which is tough, a heel versus a heel is a tough match when somebody doesn’t turn. He kept Dominik a heel and he kept himself a heel, and I’m really, really high on him. But, yeah, we would probably fistfight about two chops in.”

Gunther’s reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion has set multiple records. Not only does he hold the record for the longest single reign, surpassing The Honky Tonk Man’s 35-year record, but he also holds the record for the most days as champion in WWE history. In February 2024, he surpassed Pedro Morales’ previous record of 619 days. Gunther will defend his title against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40, aiming to extend his historic reign even further.
