Damian Priest is one of the highlights of WWE television right now and he has seen a ton of growth over the past few years. With that said Priest has admitted that his exclusion from WrestleMania 38 and 39 had hurt him.

Since making his main roster debut in 2021, Damian Priest has established himself as a significant presence capable of excelling in both singles and tag team competition. Despite receiving acclaim for his tag team match with Bad Bunny at WrestleMania 37, Priest was notably absent from the WrestleMania 38 and WrestleMania 39 cards, leaving fans questioning his placement on those events.

In a recent interview with Steve Fall of WrestlingNews.co, Priest expressed his happiness about competing at WrestleMania 40, despite being part of a six-team ladder match. He emphasized that the goal is not just to participate but to have a memorable match but admitted that missing out on the WrestleMania 38 and WrestleMania 39 cards hurt him.

“I know, absolutely. The goal is to have a match, you don’t just wanna show up. The last two WrestleManias, they did hurt a little bit, i’m not gonna lie. I’m happy I get to be on this one, but then it’s like, ‘Well hey, you’re gonna face five other teams in a ladder match.’ I was like, ‘Cool. This is gonna hurt.’ Although, I am excited I get to hurt a lot of different people. This is gonna be one we’re looking for as far as like, we want to be one of those type of ladder matches at WrestleMania that you talk about. ‘You remember that ladder match at this WrestleMania with those people?’, that’s what I want.

Although he acknowledged the physical toll of such a match, Priest expressed excitement about the opportunity to showcase his skills and make an impact. He hopes the ladder match will be remembered as one of the best in WrestleMania history and believes the talent involved has the potential to deliver an unforgettable performance.

We’ve had them, they’re iconic, we know which ones stand out but we want to be part of that conversation. I don’t know who’s in the match yet, but just surveying the land, it’s very possible this is going to be banger. Everyone’s gonna show out, it’s WrestleMania, so everyone’s gonna show out anyway. With the talent that we have now and the teams available, I think it could very easily could be one the best ladder matches in WrestleMania history.”

We will have to wait and see whether Finn Balor and Damian Priest will be able to defend their Undisputed Tag Team Championships in the 6-man ladder match at WrestleMania 40, as fans want new champions to be crowned.
