Cody Rhodes Sends Out Catchy Welcome Back Message for Shawn Spears’ WWE Return

The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes has a lot to focus on the road to WrestleMania 40. But he has also been keeping a close watch on the product across all shows and sent out a welcome back message for the man who made his shocking return to the company on tonight’s edition of NXT, Shawn Spears.

The former Tye Dillinger was revealed to be the mystery man behind the ominous vignettes that prevailed over NXT for weeks. On tonight’s show, during Ridge Holland’s in-ring segment, Spears chose his moment to strike.

The lights went out at that moment, with another series of messages playing all over the arena and when they came, a hooded Shawn Spears appeared inside the ring and laid out Holland with a thunderous chair shot, sending shockwaves across the entire landscape.

His return was also noticed by Cody Rhodes, whom he worked with during their time in AEW. The Prodigal Son took to his X to indicate towards his return with the number synonymous with Spears’s previous WWE gimmick.

While Cody Rhodes is on the main roster at the moment, he is known to be traveling across various WWE shows, so a run-in encounter with his former AEW cohort could be in the cards in the near future.
