CM Punk sustained a triceps injury during the Royal Rumble match, raising concerns about his availability for WrestleMania 40. It turned out true as he will be missing out on the event and now new backstage footage showed Punk telling Cody Rhodes to finish his story.

CM Punk confirmed on Monday Night RAW that he was genuinely injured, destroying any hopes of him headlining WrestleMania 40. The Second City Saint also made it clear he wanted Cody Rhodes to be successful at WrestleMania 40 instead.

WWE took to their Instagram and uploaded a new video, which showed CM Punk and Cody Rhodes embracing before The Second City Saint told Rhodes to finish his story at WrestleMania 40.

Drew McIntyre has been constantly going after CM Punk after his injury as well, as it is likely they will be feuding once Punk returns. Punk is expected to be out of action for 4-6 months, so we’ll have to see if he will begin the Summer of Punk upon his return.
