Every wrestling fan knows Nick Khan as being the President of WWE. Khan joined the company in 2020 during a tumultuous time but proved himself to be a worthy leader as he led the company to record revenue and profitability over the years.

However, prior to him joining the WWE, Khan was an agent and co-head of Television at CAA where he represented some of the biggest names in sports media. His expertise in negotiating deals helped him get to where he is today.

During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Nick Khan revealed how he came to sign with WWE. He stated it was Triple H who introduced him to WWE when he called to enquire about Tim Tebow.

“Paul Levesque, the King of Kings, Triple H, he’s the one who introduced me to WWE. When I was an agent, my prior profession, and I was trying to get into the WWE business, Paul had called me, an unsolicited call, and this is when Tim Tebow had just got cut by the Patriots. Paul called me and said ‘Hey I just want to introduce myself, my name is Paul Levesque’, I said ‘Oh yeah, Triple H, I know who you are, I remember you as Terra Ryzing’.”

I said ‘I know WWE, I grew up a fan, I was an usher at WrestleMania 9 at Caesar’s Palace’. I asked what’s going on and he said ‘what do you think of Tim Tebow against the Big Show’ at whatever that WrestleMania was after the Patriots’ run. He offered some financial terms, I called Tim at the time. Tim and I then had a top secret meeting, Tim Tebow, Myself, Vince McMahon and Triple H in Anaheim California about that.”

Ultimately, the deal fell through but Triple H stayed in touch with Nick Khan and eventually got him a meeting with Vince McMahon.

“Ultimately it didn’t happen but Triple H and I remained in touch and over time, he was the one who said to me ‘Hey, I think Vince may want to meet with you’. I went (to Dallas), sat in a hotel room, Paul called me, said Vince was ready to meet. I went to Vince’s office, met with him, I pitched what I had to say, we shook hands on a deal and here we are.”

While the Tim Tebow deal may not have materialized, it was the start of a lasting partnership that led to a pivotal meeting with Vince McMahon. With a firm handshake and a shared vision, Nick Khan has played a pivotal role in WWE’s triumphant ascent, securing groundbreaking deals and charting the course for the company’s continued success.
