NJPW has a few stars on their roster who would be great additions to other companies. They may lose another notable talent on their roster if they can’t come to terms on a new deal.

This idea of Kazuchika Okada venturing outside NJPW is churning in the rumor mill. There could be more talent to exit NJPW, other than Will Ospreay, and possibly Okada on top of that.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightul’s paywall that El Phantasmo’s deal is nearing its end. At this point, his contract is set to run up on January 31st. He has not confirmed whether he will ink a new contract.

NJPW Strong Tag Team Champion El Phantasmo heavily hinted to us that his deal with the company is up at the end of January 31. We’ve not confirmed this with New Japan Pro Wrestling sources, but the Guerrillas of Destiny star was certainly pointing that direction. He noted to Sean Ross Sapp that he was headed into a contract period.

It was also noted that the outlet does not know “about the contract status of his tag team partner Hikuleo, but WWE had maintained interest in him last year.”

AEW expressed interest in El Phantasmo as early as 2019, but no agreement was reached. Phantasmo ultimately re-signed with NJPW at the time. Obviously, there could be a lot of factors at play in this situation.

Keep checking back with us here at Ringside News for more on this story, and so many more. We will have to see where everyone lands when the dust settles in this recent contract situation.

What’s your take on NJPW losing El Phantasmo? Where would he be the most beneficial if he landed next? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
