WWE Superstars get to carry their titles around when them, as representatives for the company. This also means that they must keep an eye on their belongings at all times, because no champion wants to lose their belt when it has nothing to do with in-ring action.

Maven had a WWE career marked by winning the first season of Tough Enough with Nidia. He secured the Hardcore Championship three times during his tenure with the company. The former WWE Superstar also picked up a good story about that title belt.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Maven addressed some of Google’s most-searched questions about WWE stars. Notably, he responded to the inquiry about whether wrestlers get to keep their titles.

Maven then recounted an incident where he had to pay $500 to retrieve the Hardcore Championship from a tow lot. Thankfully, he had the cash to take care of the situation.

“Keep the belts forever? No. When I was the Hardcore Champion, I did take the belt home with me. I got to keep it 24/7. It’s not like they confiscated it so that it would be at the next show. No, the belt went home with me. I still remember friends and family taking pictures of it.”

I almost got it in trouble the first time. I took it out to show all my buddies. At that given moment, I was the only Hardcore Champion. I thought that was pretty cool. So I took it out to a bar that night. I was parked in a spot I probably shouldn’t have been because I thought I was great, and my car got towed. I had a flight the next morning to go out and defend the Hardcore Championship. Not having that belt on the flight for that show was not an option. I had to wake up the lot owner, I had to pay him $500 to get my car out of the lot, and phew. I made my flight. My wallet was a little thinner, but I learned a valuable lesson that night.”

Maven held the WWE Hardcore Title a total of three times, for 35 days in total. Reigns were never short with that championship, but at least the company had enough faith in him to let him carry the belt two more times.

We will have to see what’s next for Maven. After taking years away from the pro wrestling business, he is now back to engage with the community once again. He is also picking up some indie wrestling dates, so you can never say never about Maven making a surprise return to WWE once again. That being said, the Hardcore Title is long-defunct at this point.

You can check out Maven’s video below, along with a throwback from his WWE run. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more updates.
