The status of top NJPW star Giulia potentially joining WWE has been the subject of much speculation and recent developments shed some light on the situation.

Initial reports suggested that Giulia was expected to make her way to the WWE Performance Center, but it appears that this information was not accurate.

Rumors also circulated that Giulia had received an offer from WWE, but she remains under contract with Bushiroad until March 2024.

Dave Meltzer has provided a new update on Giulia’s plans in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, indicating that she has not yet made a final decision. He mentions that she has been in talks with WWE recently, and there is some substance to these discussions. However, the previous story about her heading to the Performance Center was not accurate.

“Regarding Giulia, the update is that she has not made her mind up and that she and WWE have spoken several times of late. They’ve talked enough that there is something to the story, although the story she was going to the Performance Center at this time ended up not being accurate. But she has not told those in Japan that she’s staying nor that she’s leaving.”

As of now, Giulia has not informed those in Japan whether she intends to stay with NJPW or leave for WWE. Her career in NJPW began in 2020, and she currently holds the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship as well as the Artist of Stardom Championship alongside Mai Sakurai and Thekla.

It’s worth noting that WWE’s interest in NJPW talent doesn’t stop with Giulia, as there have been reports of a “renewed” interest in Kazuchika Okada. On the other hand, despite WWE’s interest, Will Ospreay recently signed with AEW and is set to join the company when his NJPW contract expires in early 2024.

Do you think landing this talent would be best for business for WWE? Let us know in the comments.
