Logan Paul made his return to WWE as he riled up the Brooklyn crowd during this week’s SmackDown. During his microphone time, he unveiled plans for a tournament to determine his next challenger for the United States Title. One mystery NXT Superstar was also named, but he wasn’t revealed. Now, we may have a clue as to who is getting that slot.

The tournament lineup includes Santos Escobar, Dragon Lee, Karrion Kross, Bobby Lashley, Grayson Waller, Austin Theory, Kevin Owens, and an as-yet-unnamed NXT Superstar. The tournament action is set to kick off in the upcoming week.

Carmelo Hayes took to social media as he dropped a subtle hint that he could be the NXT representative. He shared a photo featuring himself holding John Cena’s custom US Championship Title.

While Carmelo Hayes’ tweet doesn’t confirm WWE’s plans, it’s worth noting that he has garnered significant praise from notable figures in the wrestling world, such as Shawn Michaels. Despite having previously wrestled on the main roster, notably facing Finn Balor on the June 26 edition of Raw, Hayes has yet to receive a full-time promotion to the main roster.

Next week on WWE SmackDown, Santos Escobar and Dragon Lee will face off in a Survivor Series rematch in the first round of the single-elimination tournament. Bobby Lashley and Karrion Kross will battle in the other match.

Only time will tell how they figure out who gets that spot in the US Title tournament. A high-stakes match could very well be on the way in NXT.
