The Big Show was a shoo-in WWE Hall of Famer when he decided to leave them for AEW. Now, he is a part-time wrestler for the company, as he serves a role backstage as well.

Paul Wight, who was previously recognized as Big Show, joined the Battleground Podcast for a discussion about his future in the wrestling ring and when he intends to retire from professional wrestling. During the podcast, the hosts brought up the subject of Sting’s impending retirement and inquired about Wight’s own retirement plans.

The former Big Show is slated to step back in the ring as he teams with Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega to take on Don Callis’ Family. Only time will tell how that turns out for him, but he feels as though he can still go in the ring.

“I probably got a year-and-a-half, two years left before [I retire],” said the AEW star. “It’s just really about trying to help this younger talent and then moving on to that commentary role, and then it’s up to the younger talent. Right now I’m still froggy and want to have fun and play a little bit, but I’ve had plenty of matches, I’ve done plenty of tours, I’ve had plenty of rivalries and right now it’s kind of like … helping the product out.”

Paul Wight can also appear for AEW as Captain Insano, as Tony Khan purchased the rights to that character as well. Only time will tell what is next for him in AEW, but he could have more matches to add to the laundry list of classics he’s already been associated with.

We will have to see what is next for Paul Wight in AEW. It appears that Tony Khan will keep making good use of the giant he has on his payroll.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
